At-Home DIY Full-Face TCA Disaster

I used 30% TCA on my whole face at home thinking I could skip paying a derm PKR 10k... It wiped out my skin barrier completely. By day 4, my cheeks looked like a severely burnt flat surface and healed into dark brown patches. It took 6 months of hydroquinone and zero sun exposure just to get back to my normal skin tone. But that was totaly my fault.

Do Not Do High-Strength TCA at Home

Please do NOT do full face TCA peels over 25% at home. If you frost your skin too much at home, you are asking for permanent hyperpigmentation. Only get it done at a clinic.

Heat Made Peel Recovery Difficult

Nobody tells you how hard recovery is in Pakistani weather. I had a peel done in May, and the heat from just standing near the kitchen stove while cooking turned my peeling skin bright red and stinging. If you can't stay in a cold room with zero heat exposure for a whole week, do not get a chemical peel.

Sunscreen Is Essential After a TCA Peel

If you do a TCA peel and think skipping sunblock for 'just 10 minutes' to run an errand is okay, your skin will burn instantly. Use physical zinc oxide sunscreen. chemical ones burn like fire on fresh skin after a peel.
